THE REFERRAL PROCESS.1. A young person presents himself or herself as homeless to an Agency.2. The Agency attempts to find accommodation for the young person, however, if an immediate solution cannot be found, Nightstop may be the next point of call. 3. Nightstop cannot provide accommodation for young people under the age of 16 and over the age of 25. 4. Bearing in mind the nature of the accommodation i.e. volunteers homes, young people who are known to have committed serious, violent or sexual crime, who are suffering from serious psychiatric illness or who are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or solvents are not eligible for referral to Nightstop. 5. Please explain the nature of the scheme to the young person and check that Nightstop is an acceptable option for the young person. 6. Complete the referral form. If anything is known about the young person that may pose a risk to volunteers and the young person refuses permission for disclosure of this information, they should not be referred to Nightstop. If permission is given, Nightstop must be made aware of all the details of the case. Each case will then be treated on its individual merits. 7. Once the referral form is completed either telephone the details through to the Nightstop worker on -01698 801551/ 0771 4835745 or fax the form on 01698 459618 between 9-5pm Monday to Friday. After 5pm and at weekends please phone the telephone contact person on ???? with details. 8. Arrange an appointment for the young person for the following morning either with your own agency or a follow up agency to look at addressing longer-term accommodation needs. 9. Meantime the Nightstop worker or telephone contact person will arrange a volunteer host for the night. 10. When accommodation has been arranged you will be given the name, address, directions and time for the young person to arrive, or if available, Nightstop will arrange transport to the volunteer's home.
